During the cold winter months, many families enjoy spending time together at the movies. Depending on where you live, it's easy to drop a large amount of cash on a family-fun-night at your local theater. To possibly offset some of the expense you might want to consider inquiring about a military discount.
Several of the large franchised cinemas such as Destina, Cinemarks and Regal participate in a military discount program. AMC offers a military discount, however you cannot claim the discount at the theater.
Instead, you must purchase your tickets on base. Over at Great Army Wives.com they have some information about AMC, including a company response to a military family's inquiry about reduced ticket prices.
Another thing to keep in mind is that most theaters don't extend military discounts on matinees because the prices are already reduced. Often the theater's military discount consists of offering matinee prices for movies aired at peak-times. Again though, this all depends on the theater. Regardless, it never hurts to ask.
