Restaurants Honor Servicemembers on Veterans Day

By November 9, 2010

As a token of thanks and appreciation, many restaurants are offering free meals, appetizers and discounts to current, retired and former servicemembers on November 11.

Here's a list of some of the participating restaurants. If your favorite eatery isn't featured, simply call and ask if they are offering a Veterans Day special. Also, don't forget that many local diners extend special deals to honor and thank servicemembers.

Applebees is honoring veterans and servicemembers with a free meal. Choose a steak or one of the other six different items on their featured menu.

Chilis - Show proof of military service and receive a free meal from one of the six items offered on the Veterans Day menu.

Hooters is thanking veterans and servicemembers by offering a free meal from their new specialty menu.

Krispy Kreme is giving away a free donut to veterans and active duty servicemembers.

Outback Steakhouse is offering a free Bloomin' Onion and non-alcoholic beverage.

Subway is giving veterans and active duty servicemembers a free 6-inch sub.

TGI Fridays wants to thank former and current servicemembers by offering one free entrée with the purchase of any entrée. The offer is available November 11-14.

I've heard that Ruby Tuesdays and Denny's are offering free breakfasts to veterans and servicemembers on Veterans Day. However, I haven't been able to confirm the information. If you're in the mood for a free breakfast from either of these places, your best bet is to give your local restaurant a call and inquire about the offer.
